The Connection with Ourselves

'I know well what I am fleeing from but not what I am in search of.' Michael de Montaigne

Our sense of peace

Stress and anxiety are common consequences of living in a disconnected way. When we let our minds run away, without direction, we lose our sense of peace and purpose.

Silence may seem like a scary place when we are not used to it. This very silence is what we need to restore our balance, and calibrate, so we are in a much better position to deal with the challenges we may face without detriment to our well-being.

We all should allow ourselves to find this silence even if it is just a few short minutes here and there; you will notice the cumulative effects are time. Self-awareness allows us to develop a stronger connection with ourselves and subsequently to life.

Reconnection

Your body is unique to you, and finding the best methods of self-care, which tip you from being just ‘healthy’ (using the definition as the absence of disease) to having a real zest for life are paramount. True health is so much more than eating well and exercising regularly.

There are many things you can do to reconnect your body and mind. These will include many creative activities and techniques that you may enjoy once tried including yoga, tai chi, drawing, colouring, keeping a diary, going for peaceful walks and mindful breathing or meditation.
